This year’s WWDC, announced by Apple, will be on June 7th and end on the 11th.

According to sources, this Worldwide Developer Conference will continue to be virtual due to the pandemic. This will be a free event to all developers.

Safely Searching with Google

Google has seemingly been working hard on creating a safer environment on their platform. This includes their Chrome browser, Gmail, and the collab with Android.

An application system called “Safe Browsing” was developed by the team to ensure the protection of their users. When an unknown site or app pops up, the system shows a warning message of the potential threat.

“Google Safe Browsing helps protect over four billion devices every day by showing warnings to users when they attempt to navigate to dangerous sites or download dangerous files. Safe Browsing also notifies webmasters when their websites are compromised by malicious actors and helps them diagnose and resolve the problem so that their visitors stay safer. Safe Browsing protections work across Google products and power safer browsing experiences across the Internet.”

Google also shares something called a Transparency Report which shows a list of identities of the threats. It also controls what content on the internet is deemed risky.

The last thing any Google users want is for a vulnerable opportunity to rise so hackers can steal any information they want. Take these warnings into consideration when browsing on Chrome.

Certain Windows 10 Versions End of Support This Month

The month of May this year ends a few versions of Windows 10. If you have these versions, make sure to update to the latest version as soon as possible.

The End of Support (also known as End of Service) warning may seem concerning to users, but don’t worry too much about it. If you are using an older version of Windows, you can continue to do so. The downside of that choice, however, stems from security flaws.

The list of versions expiring are shown below, thanks to XDA-Developers:

Microsoft’s first major annual update is coming up at any time, so be on the lookout for that one.

To get rid of the warning, Microsoft states to simply update your system. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Click the Windows Icon
  2. Search for Settings
  3. Click “Update & security”
  4. Go to “Check for updates”

If an update is available, you will simply click on “Download and install” to begin the process.

Microsoft Edge Kids Mode

Last month, Microsoft announced a new experience for kids while they’re surfing the web. Introduced as Microsoft Edge Kids Mode, this browser can be regulated by parents to give their children a better and safer environment possible while they’re online.

Since the pandemic began last year, more and more children are utilizing the virtual learning opportunities available throughout the world. This means more available times to be online. Thankfully, with one less thing to worry about, parents can set up Kids Mode on their devices to avoid any possible viruses, attacks, or adult-related content. This puts more freedom into the parents’ hands to restrict what they feel is age-appropriate for their kids.

“As far as getting into Kids Mode, it really can’t get any easier. Simply click on your account profile in the upper right corner of Edge and select “Browse in Kids Mode.” From here, you’ll be asked to choose the appropriate age range for your child, either 5-8 or 9-12. And that’s it! Just like that, you’ll quickly “leave” Microsoft Edge and enter the beautiful world of Kids Mode.”

High CPU Usage Causing Slower PC

A number of factors could result in your PC running slower than usual. It could possibly be low on memory, too many programs opened, or even malware.

Just recently, the Microsoft Feedback Hub was filled with complaints about their PC’s high CPU (central processing unit) usage after updating the OS with Windows 10 patches. Thankfully, the latest patch remedied this particular issue.

“The tech site says that patch KB5001391 has cured this spiking processor usage problem, at least according to reports from some users, although little detail has been provided about what this bug actually was (save for being a ‘race condition’ where two running processes start grabbing an inordinate amount of system resources, slowing everything else down).”

If you are having this same issue with your PC, simply head over to the ‘Check for Updates’ section of the Windows Update in the Settings app. The optional KB5001391 will show up under the “View optional updates” link.
