Selling Used Electronics

A great method to get rid of unwanted devices while earning some extra cash is to sell them.

Many consumer gadgets may be resold for close to their original price when newer ones hit the stores. This is true, even if some items lose a lot of their value once they hit the shelves.

Electronics can be advertised and sold in person or online in a variety of ways. Many people decide to have a yard sale or garage sale to get rid of their outdated electronics and other belongings. Alternatively, you may utilize classified ads or online auctions to find purchasers.

With the sale of electronic goods comes the potential for scams and other criminal conduct. In order to prevent customers that appear suspicious, sellers should limit the amount of personal information they share with them.

How Much Ram Do You Need?

It is critical to investigate the specifications of your next computer when shopping. Depending on what you need the device for, you may require something basic or something more extreme.

We described what RAM was and how to increase PC performance back in February. There are several GB of RAM available to assist the computer to run efficiently. It is available in capacities ranging from 4 to 64 GB.

In essence, 4 GB is the basic minimum for running a computer. However, if you have a few programs open, you’ll notice that everything is running slowly. Users who utilize high-end photo and video editing tools should have 64 GB of RAM. This also helps gamers who want to use the greatest resolution and refresh rate.

It is normally suggested to have at least 8 GB of RAM or more. This permits the computer’s overall performance to be better than the minimum.

Minimum System Requirements are anticipated to rise in the future, thus purchasing a computer with more RAM is recommended to extend the life of your machine.

Selling Laptop Tips (Part 1)

Selling your laptop shouldn’t be difficult.

When it comes time to sell your laptop, you’ll want to get the most money possible for it. Aside from that, you’ll want to keep your personal data protected from anyone looking to steal your identity.

Your laptop stores sensitive information, such as bank account details, among other things. Before you sell your laptop, you should create a backup of all of your files. Then, wipe the data off of the hard drive to ensure that it does not fall into the wrong hands.

It’s possible that in order for the application to run on your older computer, you’ll need to disable the DRM rights (Digital Permissions Management) associated with it, and it’s also possible that you’ll need to transfer your Windows license.

Lockdown Mode Feature on Apple OS

Apple has been in the works to add additional security features to their operating systems.

The Lockdown Mode has been built into the newest versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, Ventura. Please note, this is only in beta testing, but will be available soon.

This security feature is provided as an option to provide consumers the option of protecting themselves from state-sponsored spyware invasions. The target users are well-known people who were expressly picked for this reason.

According to MacRumors, “Lockdown Mode is aimed at journalists, activists, government employees, and others who might be targeted by sophisticated cyberattacks. It is not for the everyday user, and it restricts many iPhone features. In Messages, for example, attachments other than images are blocked, and in FaceTime, calls from people you have not previously contacted are blocked.”

Users will have to turn on the Lockdown Mode option in Settings.app and then restart their devices in order to use it. This will make the OS’s defenses stronger and limit some of its functions, making it harder for cyberattackers to get in.

No Operating System Detected?

If you see the message Missing Operating System, it may be frustrating, but there are a few different things that might have caused it to appear on your screen.

There’s a possibility that the hard drive isn’t being recognized. Under Windows, the hard disk is not detectable by the BiOS operating system. If the hard disk still won’t function, you might try reconnecting it. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to acquire a new hard disk.

The Windows boot file partition is now inoperable due to a technical issue. It is possible to start the system using a partitioning tool that is bootable. If it does not work, you might try rendering the wrong partition “inactive” and then reactivating it. It appears that there was a problem with the Master Boot Record (MBR).

To rebuild the master boot record (MBR), you may either use a bootable partitioning program or the Windows installation or repair disk.

We’ll discuss more about the Master Boot Record and BiOS in future blog posts.

  4. Devices and Printers

Erase Data from your Hard Drive

It is true that when you delete data on the hard drive, the physical proof of its removal is removed; but, the data itself continues to be stored in its original location until it is overwritten.

It is possible to replace data that has been removed from the hard drive of a computer if you so want. This will take some time, but in the meanwhile, it is possible to restore the data.

Overwrite the data on your hard disk with a software that alternates between writing 1s and 0s until it can no longer be retrieved. This should be done many times.

To make sure a file is truly gone, a number of tools are available. Eraser is a free and easy-to-use solution that will overwrite your private information with random patterns until the data is no longer recoverable. It works with nearly every version of Windows and offers a number of methods of overwriting your data, including methods approved by the Department of Defense.

Let’s Briefly Talk about UPnP

Due to its widespread use, it’s possible users may already have used UPnP.

For those unfamiliar with the phrase “networking protocol,” UPnP stands for Universal Plug & Play. Using these protocols, devices of different kinds may instantaneously interact with one another via a network. When a gadget scans a network, it’s looking for other devices on that network that could be connected to it.

New devices may be easily added and connected to a local network using the UPnP protocol. Uses of a UPnP include:

  • The installation of a new printer on every computer and tablet in the home.
  • Conveniently streaming and playing video games on a gaming console by connecting it to a server
  • Using a PC or smart TV to send material over the internet.
  • Connecting a mobile phone to a wireless speaker system.

Computer Freezes Too Often?

A computer that freezes or becomes unresponsive might be caused by a variety of factors. Usually, there’s a problem with your computer’s software or with too many apps running at once, which causes it to freeze. But it could also be hardware. Here are a few ways to try and fix this issue.

Using the Device Manager, bring your device drivers up to current. Updating the drivers is almost always going to be your best bet for solving the issue. In order to rectify this issue, a number of clients have either fixed or replaced their Power Supply Units (PSU).

In the event that your computer does not receive sufficient and steady power, it will begin to freeze. In order to solve this issue, either your power supply has to be checked or replaced.

Utilize third-party applications, such as CCleaner, in order to repair issues that are occurring on your computer. This app is also available for Mac users.

In the event that nothing else works, the final option is to reinstall the operating system. The problems with the system freezing should be resolved as a result of this. Microsoft shares how to restart, refresh or reset your computer.

PC Crash Before Loading OS

The operating system has to have the capability to start up from a damaged hard drive or corrupted RAM in order for it to be useful.

Problems with the random access memory (RAM) or the hard drive are to fault if your computer only displays the logo of its maker before crashing before installing the operating system.

If your computer has many slots for RAM, finding the offending component could be simpler. If this is the case, you should try starting the computer with each RAM stick removed in turn.

Either the random access memory (RAM) or the hard drive will need to be replaced as a result of this.

Other reasons for your PC crashing while attempting to load the operating system. These include overheating, malware, or memory issues.
