iPhone Keeps Disconnecting from Mac

Using a USB cable, you may charge and/or sync your iPhone with the help of your Mac computer. As long as your Mac doesn’t start connecting and disconnecting frequently, it can be quite the perk to acquire. If it acts up, however, it becomes a nuisance because you are unable to accomplish anything.

Begin with simple troubleshooting. How does the lightning cable look? Is it charging your phone? If so, the cable is not the problem.

Is your MacOS up-to-date? Sometimes, software issues come into play when the operating system is not updated to the latest version. Go to System Preferences, and then to Software Update.

Try rebooting your computer and phone. Often times a quick reboot fixes annoying issues.

Resetting Your Computer Without Losing Data

Resetting your PC might be useful for a variety of reasons. It is a smart alternative if you have frequent issues with its performance. If you’re experiencing problems with your computer’s software, a reset may be the best option.

If you’re seeking for a specific remedy for a specific problem, it may not always be effective or generate the desired results. Resetting your Windows 11 machine may be an option in this situation. It is possible to lose all of your data when you reset your computer. However, the truth is rather different. Here’s how to do it:

If you go to Settings —-> System —-> Recovery, troubleshooting can begin by clicking the ‘Fix problems without resetting this PC’ banner, which will open a new window. If you’ve done this and it didn’t work, go to Reset PC. Select “Keep my files” in the popup that appears. Click on “Remove everything” from the menu if you want a fresh start for your computer.

If you haven’t updated iOS 15.4.1, do it now!

Following the release of iOS 15.4, Apple has fixed an issue that might cause the battery to deplete more abruptly than intended after switching to the latest version of the operating system.

It is completely free to download and install the iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1 upgrades, and the software is automatically downloaded and installed on all compatible devices over-the-air through the Settings app.

In addition, the iOS upgrade featured a security patch for the operating system. iPhones may have been compromised because of a security flaw, according to reports.

Apple doesn’t give a lot of detail about what’s fixed in iOS 15.4.1, to allow as many iPhones as possible to be updated before more attackers can get hold of the details. According to Apple’s support page, iOS 15.4.1 patches a vulnerability in Apple AVD, which could allow an application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

Let’s Discuss What IE Mode Is

Recently, Microsoft has announced significant changes to Internet Explorer mode (IE mode), Microsoft Edge’s legacy compatibility mode. This news comes after they stated Internet Explorer 11’s end of service is just months away (June 15, 2022). So what is IE mode and what is it used for?

Microsoft explains it below:

We created Internet Explorer (IE) mode in Microsoft Edge for organizations that still need Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility with existing websites but also need a modern browser. This feature makes it easier for organizations to use one browser, for legacy web/apps or for a modern web/app.

To make it work, make sure your operating system has the most recent Windows and Microsoft Edge updates installed. If you choose not to do so, the performance of IE mode will almost surely suffer as a result.

New Option for Microsoft Defender

Keeping Microsoft’s operating systems up to speed on the newest cyber attack defenses has been a top priority for the company over the years. Recent effort by Windows developers has resulted in the creation of a Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist.

“Security, simplified. Microsoft Defender is your personal defense against digital threats. Secure your devices across operating systems including Windows, Apple, and Android.”

It is hoped that by implementing this blocklist, suppliers would take the security of their drivers more seriously.

Universal Control on Mac

Apple’s operating system is getting a slew of new features, many of which were introduced at WWDC. One of which is Universal Control.

According to MacRumors, “Universal Control streamlines multi-device workspaces by allowing you to use the same peripherals across multiple Macs and iPads.

With Universal Control, you can use your main Mac’s trackpad and keyboard to control additional Macs and/or iPads nearby, so you don’t need a desk cluttered up with more than one set of input devices.”

It’s possible with Universal Control to use a single set of keyboard, trackpad, and mouse controls on a variety of Macs and iPads. You may now slide your mouse cursor off the edge of your Mac, and it will appear on the iPad when you set it adjacent to the computer. iPad keyboard and trackpad functions are identical to those on a Mac, and material may be transferred between both.

It’s best to note that this feature is still in the beta phase. This means if you would like to try it out, you’ll have to manually turn it on. Go to System Preferences ——> Displays ——-> Universal Control to access it.

Hard Drive Failure Issues

Depending on the circumstances, the failure of a hard drive might have disastrous implications.

The procedure of replacing an old hard drive with a new one is straightforward; however, data stored on the old hard drive may get damaged or lost during the replacement process. In addition to using your current hard drive as a secondary disk after installing a new hard disk on your computer, you may connect your current hard drive to the computer using a USB cable.

The vast bulk of the information provided is that which is currently saved on the computer’s hard drive. Having restored your data, you will be able to remove the corrupt hard disk from your computer. Making frequent backups of your most important files and papers is one of the most efficient strategies of protecting your data.

In the case of a hard disk failure, Google Drive or other free cloud storage services are fantastic solutions for keeping data online that can be retrieved rapidly.

Search Highlights Feature

Windows 10 and 11 developers are constantly coming out with handy features to make work, school, and personal agendas flow easier. A new feature in the Search app called Search Highlights allows you to see popular search terms, holidays, and significant dates in your area from inside the app.

An announcement from Microsoft discusses progressive rollout to consumers over the next weeks and that it might take months for all users to get access.

We are taking a measured approach starting with the March 2022 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10, and broad availability will occur in phases. Devices running Windows 10 who have installed the March 2022 monthly quality update (or later) will be included in this phased rollout.

To utilize this function, click the Search bar in the taskbar; you should see a new interface with Search Highlights. You may click a result to access it in your web browser.

PC Crashes After Turned On

It can be frustrating when your PC crashes, unable to load the operating system. This may be the culprit:

There may be an issue with your PC’s RAM or hard drive if it boots up to the manufacturer’s logo before crashing. Both RAM corruption and hard drive damage are possible explanations for why an operating system cannot be loaded.

If you have more than one RAM slot, removing one at a time and restarting the computer can help you identify the problem. Finally, you’ll have to get a new RAM module or a new hard drive to fix the problem.

However, if that isn’t the case, Karls Technology would be happy to assist!
