Upcoming iOS 16 Feature is a Big One

While still in beta mode, the upcoming iOS 16 will include a new feature that will sidestep CAPTCHA’s.

According to MacRumors, “When enabled, Apple says iCloud will automatically and privately verify your device and Apple ID account in the background, eliminating the need for apps and websites to present you with a CAPTCHA verification prompt.”

Apple shared how the bypass works, calling it a “Private Access Token”. It confirms the user’s device and Apple ID account are in excellent shape for app or website access. Users will have a better user experience and more accessibility with this new solution than with CAPTCHAs when registering for a service or creating an account, for example.

Simply told, iOS 16 will avoid those terrible checks on applications and websites that require you to show you’re not a robot.

Hotspot Issues in Windows 11

Users are able to share their Wi-Fi connection with other devices, such as smartphones and tablets, by making use of the hotspot function on their device. When connecting to the internet, host devices can do so using either Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or a cellular data connection.

An update for Windows was distributed by Microsoft earlier this past week. Following the installation of that update by Microsoft, a previously undiscovered issue with the Wi-Fi hotspot feature was found.

If you require a hotspot, it looks that deleting the update is the best course of action. Microsoft has not yet made available a patch for the issue, but we hope that will change shortly.

Changing Icon Size on Windows OS

It is easy to modify the size of your icons, which is useful whether they are too large and take up an excessive amount of space or are too little and difficult to see. By default, the size of the icons is fixed on medium.

Here’s an easy way to change the icon size:

  1. To open the context menu, right-click an empty area of the desktop.
  2. Select View from the menu that appears.
  3. Choose from the Large, Medium, or Small icons depending on your preference.

You can also right click on the desktop and scroll to “Display settings”. From there, text, app icons, and other elements can all have their sizes altered at your discretion. You can pick from 100, 125, 150, or 175 percent. 150% is recommended, but not required.

Internet Explorer Support Ended. What Now?

Yesterday, June 15th, Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11. The browser launched back in August 24, 1995.

Although Internet Explorer 11 compatibility will continue to be supported on Windows Server 2022 or older OS editions that have a long-term service upgrade, most users will no longer receive software upgrades after this point. Now, it will be directed to Edge.

According to Bleeping Computer, “After finally reaching its end of life, the Internet Explorer desktop application will be disabled. It will be replaced with the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, with users automatically redirected to Edge when launching IE11.”

What is the Device Manager Feature?

Device Manager is a function developed by Microsoft that allows you to manage all of the hardware and devices that are connected to your computer. In addition to that, it is an essential component in problem solving. It made its debut for the first time in Windows 95.

To locate Device Manager, simply go to the Start Menu and type “Device Manager” in the search bar.

Source: Howto-Connect

From there, you will see all of the devices that are connected to your computer arranged into various categories. You can locate a particular device by clicking on the arrow that is located next to its icon and category. This can be accomplished by expanding the category so that it includes all of the devices that fall under it.

If you double-click on a device, you will be able to examine information regarding its properties, its status, and its drivers.

Free Up Space on Mac

If you delete trash files on a regular basis, you will be able to limit the amount of clutter on your computer. Doing so avoids you having to engage in a prolonged purge of eliminating old files when you are either fully out of space or almost out of space.

However, if your Mac is low on storage space, here’s a quick way to remedy it.

Access the Storage section by clicking the Apple symbol in the menu bar, selecting About This Mac, and selecting Storage. From there, select the Manage option.
Select the Applications option. You will see a listing of all apps ordered by the amount of storage space they require. Select the software or applications you wish to delete, then click Delete.
The removed applications are moved to the Trash. Emptying the Trash will free up more space.

You can also download AppCleaner, an app that removes apps and its files quickly.

New Themes to Microsoft Edge Browser

Windows 11’s Mica theme makes window borders and title bars look like they’re made of transparent material. There have been speculations that the experimental ‘Mica’ effect is about to get a bigger rollout in Microsoft Edge.

According to WindowsLatest, “Mica is now visible in the title bar, tabs stripe and even the bookmark/favourites stripe. Additionally, Microsoft Edge tabs also have rounded edges now. The Mica integration means less of a performance hit as compared to Acrylic, and the overall idea is to add some shininess to the browser.”

You’ll discover that you have the ability to alter the look of Microsoft Edge to suit your preferences under the Settings section of the browser. This has a bright mode and a dark mode, in addition to several different theme options.

It’s important to remember the browser will have to be restarted for the changes to be implemented.

Rapid Security Response from Apple

At WWDC, Apple announced a new, upcoming feature called “Rapid Security Response”. While the topic wasn’t thoroughly discussed during the event, enough details were given to give us an idea of what to expect.

With Rapid Security Response, some upgrades may no longer require a restart of the device in order to take effect; rather, they will do so as soon as they are loaded. For the vast majority of iOS and MacOS users, a full system patch is required before they may get additional security for their devices.

The key word emphasized is “some”. This means this response will not work with all updates. We shall see how it all plays out in the near future.
